The Blue Arteries Of Our Planet Earth

One of our ISA activities for the children of Std. 2 was a comparative study of the longest river in India, River Ganges, with three other rivers of the world - River Nile from Africa, River Amazon from South America and River Thames from U.K.

An  introduction  to  the  topic:
Ms. Namita Ambasht introduced the topic to our children of Std 2 through an interactive session.

Origin  and  mapping:

Children learn about the journey of River Ganges from the mighty Gangotri glacier to the largest delta on our planet – the Sunderbans.
Reinforcement of the journey of the Ganges through dramatization as also depicting the different tributaries of River Ganges
Children trace the route of the River Ganges and its tributaries, from the source to the mouth and mark important cities and towns along the banks of the river.
Comparative Study:

Pollution, Threats and Solution

After an interesting discussion on threats to River Ganges, children take a pledge to do their bit to keep our river systems clean.

Children enjoy creating slogans to bring about awareness to conserve water, a precious resource

Little drops of water
Little grains of sand
Make the mighty oceans
And the beauteous land
